Jool – new art doll

Jool might live in the inner city, but in her heart she is deep in the jungle conjuring medicine from roots and dancing to the heavy beat of drums.  She honors her spirit through her style and by surrounding herself with things that both soothe  and excite her, like sticks and stones and lovely old bones.

Jool is a one of a kind mixed media art doll made from stone clay, lotus pod and found objects such as sun dried roots and rusty washers.  She is hand painted in acrylic paints and protected with a matte finish. Jool is signed on the bottom of her base and measures approximately 7 inches tall and 3.20 inches wide. She is available through my Etsy store.

Very expressive eyes – and I like her ears (buttons?).

    thank you both!

first eyes i’ve done that are actual eyes and not sticks or jingle bells or x’s. they are simply hand painted clay and i think i like them better than glass or acrylics…at least for this style doll. her ears are covered in super cool tribal ear ring cuff thingys! (aka painted wooden buttons).

I think the eyes are the best part of her. Its everything together though that makes this one special. I love the outfit she wears and the jewelry plus the way she’s standing with that bit of a lean to one side. Very nice work.
