Three more art dolls for the Love Endures series.  The latest pieces are around a foot tall. I’ve sold the first two pieces and currently have no. 3 up in my etsy store.  I’ll be adding at least one from this set today.

The series is inspired by Love, Strength and Individuality.  Each piece is hand sculpted with stone clays and finished with acrylic paints and mediums before being sealed with a protective acrylic coat.  I’ve really been enjoying making these and will add a few more to the series I’m sure, but currently I’m working on some other dolls so it might be a while.

With Valentine’s day approaching I thought I’d do a doll that mingle death and love.  The idea that love can endure all life’s obstacles, including death seemed like a good place to start.  As I created the first one, I thought about the spirit of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and how ones ancestors will celebrate a loved one’s life and spirit each year on this day.  The first doll led to a second doll and the second doll to a third and well, I don’t think I’m done with this series.  These dolls have come to mean more than a single holiday, more than a single type of love even.  They are symbols of love and strength as well as a celebration of our uniqueness and individuality.  Some of the series will be available through my etsy store.  As always, you can contact me if you don’t see something on etsy and I’ll let you know if it’s available.
